The President of Tug of War Federation, Mr Isaac Osai

The President Tug of War Federation of Nigeria, Mr Isaac Osai has reiterated the federation’s commitment towards being more focus this year especially in the area of proper exposure and positioning of the game at the grassroots level.

Briefing herosports correspondent at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos recently, he said plans are in the pipeline to host quite a number of championships that will bring out the best athletes where and when necessary.

“It may interest you to know that within few months of assuming office as the President of the federation late last year, the federation has seen the berth of two Tug of War championships, we held one among the Nigeria Police Force Tug of War Association and the other one in Delta State in honour of a traditional personality, Obi of Owa Kingdom who also doubles as the Chairman of the Traditional councils of Chiefs and Obis in the state. I’m sure before by the end of the first quarter, quite a numbers of the event will be hosted”.

“We’re also planning to take Tug of War to secondary schools as earlier mentioned where talents will be harnessed and nurtured to greatness”.

“Tug of War Federation in collaboration with Lagos state Tug of association and Lagos state government is on the ground at the Lagos NYSC orientation camp to teach the corps members nitty-gritty of the game. We have a lot of lineup activities and we’ve been working hard to ensure it all come to fruition”. he stated

However, the President commended the federation’s members, Lagos state Tug of War Association and the Lagos state government for their unflinching supports with the hope to get more in the future.
