As part of efforts to further expose the game of Roller Skating in the state, efforts are in top gear as Lagos state roller Sports Association are currently putting things together to host the maiden edition of Eko on Wheels Championship billed for the second week in May 2019 at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
According to the chairman of the association, Mr Phillip Oyede who said seeing the championship coming to fruition is his target which the main purpose is to discover talents and as well expose the game of Roller skate at the grassroots level.
“We’re working effortlessly to ensure the championship come to past and as it is right now, all hands are on deck and I assure you, no stone will be left unturned so as to achieve our target goal”. he opined
“Although, the nation’s economy is a bit constrained which may likely affect in the area of sponsorship no doubt but we’ll definitely have our way”. he noted
Mr Oyede further stated that the championship will also be used as an opportunity to campaign against indecent skating by some skaters in the state.
However, athletes will be competing in different categories such as slalom, high jump, marathon and track race while a lot of prizes have been earmarked for the winners of the championship
