Host Ghana and holders Nigeria have been named top seeds ahead of the draw of the final tournament of the Total Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Ghana 2018 scheduled for Sunday, 21 October 2018 in Accra.

Ghana’s Black Queens are seeded in Group A with position A1, whilst Nigeria headlines Group B by virtue of being holders and the most successful team in the history of the biennial competition, having won it eight times. Their position will be B1.

The final tournament is scheduled for the Ghanaian cities of Accra and Cape Coast from 17 November to 1 December 2018. The top three finishers will qualify to represent Africa at the FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2018.

A1 is the host country: GHANA
B1 is the cup holder of the previous tournament: NIGERIA

CAMEROON & SOUTH AFRICA will be seeded in a 2nd level in pot 1 for having the best results in the last three editions of TOTAL Women AFCON. (South Africa & Cameroon were both qualified to the last three final tournaments; both teams had the best results) Only the results of Women’s AFCON are taken into consideration in the seeding.

The 4 remaining teams (Kenya, Mali, Algeria & Zambia) are all seeded in a 3rd level in pot 2 containing 4 balls.

1st Ball drawn from the 1st pot will be in group A and a draw will be done to determine its position (A2, A3, A4) from the pot 3; then the 2nd ball will be in group B and a draw will be done to determine its position (B2,
B3, B4) from pot 4.

For the 4 remaining teams in pot 2, the ball drawn the 1st will be in group A and a draw will be done to determine its position (A2, A3, A4) from the third pot and the ball drawn the 2nd will be in group B and a draw will be done to determine its position (B2, B3, B4) from the fourth pot.

This procedure will be repeated twice.
